At AAA Life Insurance Company, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our policyholders, employees, and the communities we serve are our top priorities as we monitor the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. Due to unprecedented high call volumes, you may experience a longer wait time than usual and your patience is appreciated.
We thank our policyholders and AAA members for placing their trust in AAA Life.
Q: I already have a policy with AAA Life. Am I still covered/will you cover claims related to COVID-19?
Our life insurance policies cover death claims due to complications of COVID-19 similar to death claims as a result of any other infectious cause (like the seasonal flu or bacterial meningitis). This is applicable for our life insurance plans only and does not apply to accident plans. Please refer to the details of coverage in your policy from AAA Life. If you need another copy of your policy, please let us know and we would be happy to provide you with a new copy.
Q: I am in the middle of the medical exam process for a policy application with AAA Life. Can my application move forward?
If you have already completed your health screening for life insurance, your application will continue to be processed. If you have not yet had your health screening, you may experience a longer wait time as the medical exam companies experience a higher than usual volume of appointments. If you have other questions about your application, please contact your agent directly.
Q: Will you insure a person who has been diagnosed with coronavirus?
If you are applying for life insurance and have been recently (in the last 4 weeks) diagnosed with COVID-19, you will not qualify for coverage at this time. You are welcome to apply for coverage after making full recovery from the illness. AAA Life assesses each individual life insurance application individually based on prudent underwriting guidelines. We appreciate our applicants disclosing all available information about their health at time of application.
Q: I have an annuity with AAA Life. What does the CARES Act mean to me as the owner of a AAA Life annuity?
Note: This information has been updated to reflect the latest IRS guidelines.
AAA Life Insurance Company wants to provide you with important details regarding required minimum distributions (RMDs) from your IRA. RMDs are the amount of money the IRS requires you to withdraw from your IRA every year. The federal government recently passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which suspends all RMDs for 2020. This waiver of RMDs is not limited to those who are affected by COVID-19. This waiver of RMDs applies to:
If you already scheduled your RMD for withdrawal, you will need to advise us if you want to change any scheduled withdrawals you have set up with us. Please contact us in writing or by phone at (888) 422-7020.
With respect to RMDs you already received in 2020 and no longer want, you can recontribute (or roll over) the amount back into your AAA Life IRA by August 31, 2020. This relief applies to all RMDs for 2020. If you received RMDs in monthly installments, you may return all the 2020 monthly distributions back into your AAA Life IRA by August 31, 2020. If taxes were withheld when your RMD was distributed, these withholdings cannot be refunded by AAA Life under the guidelines provided by the IRS. As AAA Life does not provide tax or legal advice, we recommend that you contact your tax professional regarding the treatment of RMDs already received in 2020.
Although RMDs will not be required in 2020, you may voluntarily request distributions from your IRA at any time subject to the terms of your annuity contract.
